The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be a member of the factory maintenance team and will be responsible for safely maintaining our production line, equipment, and facility. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining production equipment and capable of applying their technical skills and experience to maximize equipment availability, identify causes of machine failure, and rectify those causes in a timely manner. The Maintenance Technician will be expected to work independently with very limited supervision and at times as the only maintenance tech on shift. Candidate must be diligent in adhering to procedures, focused on producing the best quality results, being highly productive and mindful of costs. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a challenging, dynamic, team-based manufacturing environment and will be accountable for meeting safety, quality, and production goals in support of our customers and business plan.
The position is located at our Duncan, SC, Accessories manufacturing facility.
The successful candidate will have a blend of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below
Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health & Safety policies of AFL Telecommunications.
To conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, install new equipment and maintain the building and facilities.
To follow Continuous Improvement Processes to increase Equipment Reliability and Productivity.
Complete work orders and record necessary information for tracking purposes.
Accomplish maintenance task instructions as directed or scheduled.
Interface with suppliers and equipment manufacturers.
Maintain equipment records.
Maintain spare parts inventory.
Order supplies for maintenance
Complete other assignments as directed.
Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Assist in installation and new equipment start up and Maintenance projects.
Maintain and upgrade equipment documentation.
Participate in development of equipment specifications as required for new.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment issues.
Knowledge expert on all area machine operational information
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / COMPETENCIES
Demonstrated Ability to work with Programmable Logic Controllers both Troubleshooting and Programming.
Solid Understanding of Facility/Building Systems: Power Delivery, Air Compressors, and other related equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair Pneumatic / Hydraulic and Mechanical systems.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments.
Experienced in welding.
Demonstrated Understanding proper use of Hand Tools.
Ability to execute maintenance machining on a lathe, drill press, saw, mill, and surface grinder and design replacement parts as needed.
Good time management skills.
Self-starter with integrity and confidence who strives to achieve even the most challenging environments with limited supervision. Must be willing to call equipment manufactures for troubleshooting and repair advice.
Team player with well-developed interpersonal skills who is comfortable in a cross-functional, multi-cultural environment.
Mechanically oriented individual with the ability to solve problems and implement change.
Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to clearly explain issues.
Skillset includes machining on various types of CNC equipment to include lathes/mills/grinders, blueprint/schematic interpretation, precision measurement tools, programming/editing of G/M Codes, tooling setup, repair/preventative maintenance and quality checks
Additionally, a plus to read, interpret, and troubleshoot using Electrical Schematics, Wiring Diagrams, and Ladder Logic diagrams including demonstrated ability to program and troubleshoot AC / DC drives, motors and PLC control systems including the ability to access and troubleshoot the ladder logic programs with a laptop.
REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE
Preferred Mechanical Associates Degree.
Must successfully complete pre-employment assessments, background & reference checks.
Must be willing to work flexible work schedule.
Minimum of 5 years as a maintenance technician in an industrial environment
Personal protective equipment requirements:
Safety Glasses must be worn at all times.
Steel toes shoes must be worn at all times.
Ear plugs will be required to be worn in some areas of the factory.
