The is located 12 miles west of the OHSU main campus, and sits on 162 acres of land featuring forested areas, research and administration buildings, indoor and outdoor animal housing, a pond, and 2-mile perimeter walking path. Our mission is to improve human health and the quality of life through the support of nonhuman primate research programs that advance our knowledge of the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of debilitating diseases.

Function/Duties of Position

This position provides skilled, journey level services for maintaining the appearance of OHSU facilities. This includes applying surface coatings, paints, stains, and wall coverings to interior, as well as exterior surfaces, such as roadways, buildings and parking structures. Preparing and finishing wood surfaces including cabinets, furniture and other items and the design and fabrication of high-quality signage. The work will be performed in all OHSU owned buildings on the West Campus.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed painter apprenticeship training and be a journey worker; OR three years of varied painting experience
  • Ability to work in a wide variety of settings
  • Ability to estimate work needs and costs. Ability to work with a diverse population. Ability to prioritize and schedule workload. Skill in maintaining professional relationships.
  • Work around sensitive equipment, hazardous materials, and cramped quarters
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to lift materials weighing up to 75 lbs. from floor to waist height unassisted
  • Lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs overhead unassisted
  • Must be able to work with hands overhead for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work in ceiling overheads and crawl spaces where movement is restricted
  • May be required to work from ladders and scaffolding
  • Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Foundational computer skills
