The Electrical Engineer - Project Engineer manages new product contract manufacturing launches, sustaining contract manufacturing production, including cost savings recommendations and engineering support for customer design changes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. The PE-EE's primary responsibility is managing customer projects for contract manufacturing at Eastek. (new product launches and engineering support for sustaining production) Approximately 90% contract manufacturing projects and 10% electrical engineering design and development support.
  2. Knowledgeable in printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) and soldering processes. Typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience.
  3. Creating designs of PCBs is a plus. (Gerber file layouts, component placement, routing, constraints, manufacturing file creation, and related documentation.)
  4. Embedded software experience is a plus.
  5. RF signal experience is a plus.
  6. Molding experience is a plus.
  7. Work in a collaborative team environment to review and analyze electrical schematics/supporting documents to interpret electrical design requirements.
  8. Consult with customers and internal mechanical and manufacturing engineers to determine product requirements and post-launch debug and cost savings opportunities.
  9. Act as a technical resource for product field support of customers, service personnel, and field sales force, assisting in addressing and resolving problems. Provide excellent customer service.
  10. Meet/exceed all schedule requirements for assigned projects.
  11. Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements.
  12. Evaluate and select electrical/electronic components for control systems. Initiate purchase orders.
  13. Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, ongoing improvement of processes and methods
  14. Suggest ideas for new products.
  15. Stay current on new developments in the industry.
  16. Travel to job sites to resolve problems, including North America and occasionally Asia and Europe.
  17. Follow all housekeeping procedures.
  18. Comply with all quality and safety regulations.

Education and/or Experience

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, four to seven years of related experience, or eight to ten years of progressively responsible related experience, or a combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively communicate with groups of managers, customers, and employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Knowledgeable in creating Excel and PowerPoint documents.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Other Qualifications

The ability to operate various standard office machines, including a computer, telephone, fax, copier, etc., and the ability to operate various test and development equipment.
